Day 1: • Lake Union Kanioni Lake, Vermosh
Breakfast:• We leave Tirana on Friday towards Gryka of Rugova, which is located about 25 minutes from the city of Peja and 270 km from Tirana.
Liqeni Liqenat: The starting point of the trail is located very close to the place of accommodation. The path is of average level, but during the winter period, it is increased due to the thickness of the snow. You would be lucky if you found the beaten path, which is not the case since everything was covered during the previous days.
The Arrival: After 3 hours of climbing, we arrive at Lake Liqenat, which is located in the middle of Bjeshke i Rugova, 1970m above sea level, above the village of Kuqishte.
Restaurant& Hotel: @te_liqeni_rugove
Kuqishte: After a short rest, we start the descent towards the village of Kuqishte. Despite the ascent, the descent only took an hour because the trail was open.
Accommodation: After returning to Kuqishte, we will stay again in the villas of @te_liqeni_rugove to spend the evening again and continue the plans for the next day.
Important Note:
• Trail Crossing: You’d be lucky to find the trail trodden, which was not the case for us as everything had been covered in snow for the previous two days.
Day 2: Boga, White Drin Waterfall, Radac Cave.
Breakfast:
• We start the day on Sunday with a visit to Boga, 15 minutes away from the village of Kuqishte. From Zestani, our walk towards the Lakes of Jezerca starts. The 1.5 hour ascent through rugged terrain is of an easy level before revealing the splendor of the glacial lakes.
• After a short visit to Boga, we head towards the White Drin Waterfall (only 11km from the city
of Peja).
• Very close to the waterfall is the Radac Cave or otherwise “Sleeping Beauty”, a hidden
world under the Albanian Alps, rich in sculptures, decorations and a variety of
animals.
- After lunch:
- Return: We end this journey with a final stop at the Grand Bazaar of Gjakova – the oldest bazaar in Kosovo.
- Conclusions:
- Rugova Gorge and the surrounding area offer an attractive combination of natural landscapes and cultural assets, making this destination an excellent choice for a two-day trip.
